WWROF will provide continuity for the long-running, community-built website that preserves information and archives from WRTC events across more than three decades of radiosport history.
February 12, 2026 — The World Wide Radio Operators Foundation, Inc. (WWROF) announced today that it has assumed responsibility for WRTC.info, the long-standing community website dedicated to preserving the history of the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC).
A COMMUNITY RECORD WORTH PRESERVING
WRTC.info was launched around 2006 with a clear purpose: to collect, consolidate, and preserve information from all WRTC events before these artifacts disappeared from the internet.
Until 2014, the site was carefully maintained by Bjørn, LB1GB. Since then, through the efforts of a small group of volunteers, WRTC.info has become the most comprehensive publicly accessible record of WRTC events, documenting more than three decades of radiosport history through event descriptions, participant accounts, images, and statistics.
WHY WWROF IS STEPPING IN
Preserving important history is a core part of WWROF’s mission. WWROF has also been a long-time supporter of the WRTC program, providing guidance and funding to help ensure the event’s continuity and ongoing improvement every four years.
WWROF recognizes the value of WRTC.info as a trusted historical record created by and for the radiosport community. By assuming stewardship of the site, WWROF’s intent is straightforward: to help ensure that this body of work remains available, accurate, and responsibly maintained over time.
“This site matters. WRTC.info has become the most complete public record of WRTC—how the events were run, who participated, and how the competition has evolved. Ensuring that history is preserved accurately and responsibly is important to the entire radiosport community, and WWROF is pleased to help provide continuity for that work.”

CONTINUING THE COMMUNITY EFFORT
WRTC.info has always been built on contributions from the community—stories, photographs, documents, and statistics shared by organizers, competitors, and volunteers. That model will continue.
To support this work, WWROF is seeking a small group of volunteers willing to help sustain WRTC.info going forward, including:
- A WordPress-literate site manager
- Content contributors and editors
- Community members interested in helping curate and preserve WRTC-related materials
Those interested in contributing time or expertise are encouraged to get involved and help ensure that the history of the World Radiosport Team Championship remains available to future generations. To volunteer, please contact WWROF via our Contact Us page.
